The minimum base weekly salary for the positions being auditioned for is established by a collective bargaining agreement between The Broadway League Inc., on behalf of the above-named producer, and Actors' Equity Association. For Broadway, it is anticipated that the base weekly salary for each of the below-listed roles will range between a minimum of $2,537 per week (which equals an annualized base salary of $131,924) and a maximum of $3,000 per week (which equals an annualized base salary of $156,000).

As part of a pilot program created in the new agreement for Production: Broadway and Sit Downs, the employer will accept 126 video submissions from Equity members. Members will sign up online for one of the 126 slots. Only members who get one of the 126 slots will receive a confirmation e-mail with the preparation and submission information. After members' submissions have been viewed, the employer will notify each member who viewed their audition.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

HOWIE NEWSOME Male, 30s-40s. Grover’s Corners milkman. Simple, friendly, has a good-natured small-town sensibility.

REBECCA GIBBS Female, Black, Mid-Late Teens. George’s younger sister. Energetic and excitable contrarian.

WALLY WEBB, JOE & SI CROWELL Male, Mid-Late Teens. WALLY is Emily’s younger brother. A lovable boy scout. JOE is the Grover’s Corners’ paper boy, bright, kind, and respectful. SI is Joe’s younger brother, who takes over for him as paper boy as the years have passed. Friendly and respectful all the same. These roles will COVER

PROFESSOR WILLARD Female, Male or TNB2S+, Native/First Nations, 30s-70s. State University professor, a rural savant of the Grover’s Corners history. Knowledgeable and warm, they’re gregarious yet serious about their work and love their analyses. This role is likely to COVER

SIMON STIMSON Male, Black, 20s-50s. Local church choir director. A troubled, sad alcoholic, he’s become the center of the town’s gossip. Pianist - Plays piano on stage.

MRS. SOAMES Female, 40s+. A gossip, chatty busybody, and member of the choir. This role is likely to COVER

CONSTABLE WARREN Male, 40s+. Longtime Grover’s Corners policeman. Helpful, protective and caring with the little crime going on in town. This role is likely to COVER

SAM CRAIG Male, Black, 20s-30s. A local Grover’s Corners boy, now a businessman in Buffalo. Nephew of the Gibbs’, he’s come home to mourn the loss of his cousin. This role will likely COVER

JOE STODDARD Male, 30s-50s. The Grover’s Corners cemetery undertaker. Familiar and gentle, he’s a reclusive watcher. This role will likely COVER

FEMALE CITIZEN ENSEMBLE: WOMAN IN THE BALCONY / LADY IN THE BOX / WOMAN AMONG THE DEAD, Female, any ethnicity, 30s-50s. AUDIENCE members asking questions of Editor Webb. Curious about drinking habits, social injustice, culture and love. A WOMAN fond of hymns, with the other dead in Grover’s Corners cemetery. THESE ROLES WILL COVER MULTIPLE FEMALE CHARACTERS.

MALE CITIZEN ENSEMBLE: MAN IN THE AUDITORIUM / THREE BASEBALL PLAYERS / MR. CARTER / MAN AMONG THE DEAD / ANOTHER MAN AMONG THE DEAD, Male, any ethnicity, 20s-50s. AUDIENCE members asking questions of Editor Webb. Curious about drinking habits, social injustice, culture and love. BASEBALL PLAYERS are George’s teammates, immature jokesters catcalling at George and Emily’s wedding. MR. CARTER & DEAD are among the dead in Grover’s Corners, commenting on Emily’s funeral. THESE ROLES WILL COVER MULTIPLE MALE CHARACTERS.

UNDERSTUDIES for ALL ROLES

CAST:

TBA - STAGE MANAGER Male, 40s+. The all-knowing narrator, storyteller and chorus. Benevolent, engaging and grounded, he leads the way through the play for the audience. He occasionally assumes other roles, such as an old woman, a druggist, and minister to interact with the world of the play.

TBA - EMILY WEBB Female, white, 20s-30s. Bright, honest, curious, articulate. Despite her anxious nature, she falls in love with George Gibbs. When she dies in childbirth, she finds that the dead can only pity the living.

TBA - GEORGE GIBBS Male, Black, 20s-30s. Naive, sincere all-American boy. A romantic like his parents. A star baseball pitcher and upstanding young man, he’s eager to do whatever he needs for a successful love story.

TBA - DR. GIBBS Male, Black, 50s-60s. The local physician. Hardworking, warm, he’s a family man and romantic with expert knowledge in the Civil War.

TBA - MRS. GIBBS Female, Black, 50s-60s. Wife to Doc Gibbs. Loving, pleasant, maternal. Dreams

of traveling with her husband. She finds joy in her marriage and hopes her son finds the same.

TBA - MRS. WEBB Female, white, 50s-60s. Wife to Mr. Webb. Good-hearted, but no-nonsense. She’s serious and caring.

TBA - MR. WEBB Male, white, 50s-60s. Publisher and Editor of the Grover’s Corners newspaper. By the-book, an intellectual rather than emotional man, but has a good sense of humor.
